Privacy Policy
Last updated: 11 August 2026
Taliento ("Taliento", "we", "us", or "our") operates the website taliento.co.ug (the "Platform"), a directory that helps people in Uganda find and connect with creative and performing talent. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
By using the Platform, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Who we are
Taliento is operated by ESOM School of Music, based in Kampala, Uganda. If you have any questions about this policy or your personal information, you can contact us at the email address in the "Contact us" section below.
2. Information we collect
We collect information in the following ways:
Information you provide directly. When you sign in and create a profile or post an opportunity, you provide information such as your name, the details you choose to display (headline, categories, skills, district, photo, sample links), and a contact number. You control what you put in your profile.
Information from Google sign-in. We use Google to let you sign in. When you sign in, Google shares basic account information with us, such as your name, email address, and profile picture, so we can create and secure your account. We do not receive your Google password.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we automatically collect limited technical information when you visit, such as your device type, browser, pages visited, and general usage patterns. We use analytics tools (described below) for this.
3. How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Create and maintain your account
- Display your talent profile or opportunity in the public directory (only if you choose to publish it)
- Let seekers and talent find and contact each other
- Operate, secure, and improve the Platform
- Understand how the Platform is used so we can make it better
- Communicate with you about your account or important changes
4. What is public and what is private
Public. If you publish a talent profile or an opportunity, the information in it (such as your name, headline, skills, district, and photo) is visible to anyone using the Platform.
Your contact number is protected. Your phone number is not shown publicly on your profile. It is only revealed to a signed-in user who chooses to view your contact details, and each reveal is recorded. This lets people connect while keeping your number from being scraped or broadly exposed.
Connections happen off-platform. Taliento helps people discover each other. Once contact details are revealed, any further communication (for example over WhatsApp or phone) happens directly between the two people, outside the Platform. We are not part of, and do not monitor, those conversations.
5. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only:
- Publicly, as described above, when you choose to publish a profile or opportunity
- With service providers who help us run the Platform (such as our hosting provider, our database provider, and analytics tools), who process data on our behalf
- When required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Taliento or others
6. Third-party services we use
We rely on trusted third-party services to operate the Platform, including:
- Google (for sign-in)
- Our hosting and database providers (to run the site and store data securely)
- Analytics tools (Google Analytics, and Microsoft Clarity for anonymized usage insights and heatmaps)
These providers have their own privacy policies governing how they handle data.
7. Cookies and analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and understand how the Platform is used. Our analytics tools may collect information such as pages viewed and how you interact with the site. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though some features may not work properly if cookies are disabled.
8. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Platform. If you ask us to delete your account, we will remove your personal information, except where we are required to keep some of it to comply with the law or resolve disputes.
9. Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct information that is inaccurate (you can edit most of it directly in your profile)
- Ask us to delete your account and personal information
- Withdraw your profile from public view at any time by unpublishing it
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below. We handle personal information in line with Uganda's Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019.
10. Children
The Platform is not intended for people under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us and we will remove it.
11. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including limiting who can access it and protecting contact numbers from public exposure. However, no online service can be completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top. Significant changes may be communicated to you directly.
